Who Am I?

Hello, I am Claire; thank you for taking the time to visit Kent Mindfulness Coach.
Firstly, the wonders of modern technology mean I am not limited to Kent, or even the UK. And, although my training through Mindfulness UK was focused on mindfulness-based stress reduction, I also offer extensive support with organisation, anxiety, relationships and exam pressure to a wide range of people. So the name Kent Mindfulness Coach is not exhaustive.
I have worked in the education sector for over ten years, initially in a mixed comprehensive secondary school and, more recently, in a high performing grammar school. I have extensive experience as an English teacher and a pastoral care provider. It was this role that initially prompted me to research and study techniques to enable me to better support students, parents and colleagues. For the last five years I have worked as a pastoral leader, responsible for the welfare of 250 students. It soon became apparent that many problems students face – stress, anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, tiredness, anger, to name a few – were preventable. It also became clear that these were not just problems for students; they’re challenges many adults also face on a daily basis.
When I discovered mindfulness, I was struck by how quickly it enabled me to manage the pressures of modern life. I realised that there would always be a need to juggle the demands on my time and energy and that these change at different times of life. So I had a choice to make; either continue bouncing from one challenge to another, reacting rather than responding; or develop manageable techniques that would help me future-proof my life against those inevitable tougher times.
Mindfulness gave me a range of skills that made it much easier to recognise when everyday niggles and frustrations could develop into larger issues. This allowed me to deal with them myself, diffuse my own stress and maintain balance.
I passionately believe that these skills are ones that anyone can develop with the guidance and support. It is all too easy to compare ourselves to others’ success. We are constantly inundated with images of a perfect life; we know this is rarely a reality but it is difficult to avoid striving for this unobtainable goal.
Through mindfulness it is entirely possible for you to develop the confidence and control over your life that perhaps has previously felt out of reach.
There may be elements of my story that resonate with you, or the idea of making a positive and long-lasting change appeals. If so, please don’t hesitate to get in touch so we can have a chat and start your bespoke journey today.
Best wishes,
